Our Founder Joins “Westchester, Explained” to Talk About Clothing Insecurity

We were honored to be featured on Westchester, Explained, a special long-form series from This Week in Westchester – The Podcast. The series goes deeper into the headlines, decisions, and policies shaping Westchester County and what they mean for families, neighborhoods, and the future.

In recognition of National Clothing Insecurity Awareness Day on September 15, 2026, our Executive Director and founder, Deborah Blatt, sat down with the podcast team to shine a light on a challenge that too often goes unseen: children in our own communities who don’t have the clothing they need.

Why clothing insecurity matters

A warm coat, a new pair of sneakers, or clothes that fit well can change how a child experiences school. When children have what they need, they can walk into the classroom with confidence, dignity, and comfort, ready to learn and be themselves.

In this conversation, Deborah explains what clothing insecurity really means, why it deserves the same attention as food and housing insecurity, and what resources are available to help children across Westchester County get the clothing they need.

How our community makes a difference

This work is only possible because of our volunteers, donors, and community partners. In 2025, we served 8,540 children and teens across the County, and the need continues to grow. The episode highlights how neighbors, local organizations, and county partners are helping close the gap, one child at a time.
