Just before Thanksgiving 2025, a devastating five-alarm fire in Mount Vernon displaced more than 100 families. The Sharing Shelf and our team quickly stepped in to support those affected. We opened our Teen Boutique to staff from the Mount Vernon Youth Bureau, who selected new sneakers, hygiene items, and warm winter clothing for 32 of the displaced teens. On the Clothing Bank side, volunteers assembled Wardrobe Packs, providing a week of warm clothing, for infants and children.
We now need your help. While the immediate needs of the Mount Vernon families have been addressed, the response significantly reduced our winter inventory. This is our busiest season, and demand is at an all-time high.
We are seeking immediate donations of winter clothing in all sizes, along with volunteers to help sort and pack clothing. Your support ensures that we can continue to meet the needs of children and teens throughout our community.
