Who We Are: The Sharing Shelf (“Sharing Shelf”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization that was founded to address clothing insecurity and meet the basic material needs of low-income children and teens in Westchester County. We support schools, hospitals and non-profits that work directly with economically vulnerable families in the Westchester community.

Scope: This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect and otherwise process about you when you visit https://www.sharingshelf.org/ (“Website”), including how we use, disclose, and otherwise process that information. This Privacy Policy does not apply to personal information we collect from you offline or The Sharing Shelf’s practices relating to the collection of personal information from job applicants, employees and other personnel.

We collect personal information about you in various ways when you interact with the Website. The types of personal information we collect and the manner in which we collect it depends on the nature of your interaction with the Website.

  • Contact Information, including your name, address, email address and any other information you choose to provide when you register to make a clothing donation or volunteer to help The Sharing Shelf through our third-party volunteer registration platform on the Website, make a monetary donation on the Website, subscribe to our mailing list to receive news and updates from us, or otherwise choose to communicate with us.
  • Transaction Information, including payment information when you make a
    monetary donation to The Sharing Shelf. Payments may be processed by a third-party payment processors. Please refer to the applicable processor’s terms and privacy policy for more information about how payment information is processed and stored.
  • Inquiry Information, including the content of emails or submissions through our Website.

Information We Receive Automatically:

We may collect certain information from you automatically when you visit the Website, including:

  • Log File Data, including your internet protocol (IP) address, operating system,
    browser type, browser id, date/time of visit, and pages visited.
  • Analytics Data, including the electronic path you take to our services, through our services and when exiting our services, as well as your usage and activity on our services, such as the links and object you view, click or otherwise interact with.

    providers that perform services on our behalf, such as our volunteer registration platform, donation processors or event partners.
  • Charity Partners: We may receive personal information about individuals in need from nonprofits, schools or government agencies who place requests for resources with us.
  • Social Media Networks: When you interact with us through various social media networks, such as when you “Like” us on Facebook or when you follow us or share our content on Facebook or Instagram or other social networks, we may receive some information about you that you permit the social network to share with third parties. The data we receive is dependent upon your privacy settings with the social network. You should always review and, if necessary, adjust your privacy settings on third party websites and social media networks and services before interacting with The Sharing Shelf through those networks and services.

2. How We Use Information

• To process your donations, monetary or otherwise.
• To operate, maintain and provide the features and functionality of the Website.
• To communicate with you, including via email, and send you information regarding The Sharing Shelf’s activities and important information regarding the Website, such as certain changes to our terms, conditions, policies, and/or other administrative information.
• To help maintain the safety, security, and integrity of the Website, technology assets, and our business.

  • Service Providers. We may share personal information with third-party vendors, consultants and other service providers who perform functions or services on our behalf. For example, this may include vendors and providers who provide auditing functions, advertising and marketing, event, donation processing, and volunteer registration services.
  • Social Media Widgets and Advertising. The Website may include social media features, such as the Facebook Like button, Instagram, or other widgets. These social media companies may recognize you and collect information about your visit to the Website, and they may set a cookie or employ other tracking technologies. Your interactions with those features are governed by the privacy policies of those companies.
  • Public Reports. Unless you choose to make a donation as an anonymous donor, we may disclose donor names and giving levels on our social media pages, newsletters and email communications with our community.
  • Business Transaction or Reorganization. If we are involved in a merger,
    acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of all or a portion of our assets, or transition of service to another provider, your personal information and other information may be shared in the diligence process with counterparties and others assisting with the transaction and transferred to a successor or affiliate as part of that transaction along with other assets.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We may use cookies, pixel tags, local storage, and other tracking technologies to automatically collect information through the Website. These tracking technologies are small data files downloaded to or stored on your tablet, mobile phone or other internet-enabled device that enable us to record certain pieces of information whenever you visit or interact with the Website. Do Not Track: We do not currently recognize the “do not track” signals that some

We may send you promotional messages via email. You can stop receiving promotional email communications from us by clicking on the “unsubscribe link” provided in such communications. We will make every effort to promptly process all unsubscribe requests. You may not opt out of service-related communications (e.g., transactional communications, changes/updates to features of the service, technical and security notices).

6. Children’s Personal Information

Our websites and online services are not directed to, and we do not intend to, and do not knowingly, collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 14. If you are under the age of 14, please do not use our websites or online services or otherwise provide us with any personal information either directly or by other means. If a child under the age of 14 has provided personal information to us, we encourage the child’s parent or guardian to contact us to request that we remove the personal information from our systems. If we learn that any personal information we collect has been provided by a child under the age of 14, we will promptly delete that personal information. We do, however, process personal information about children, including names, age and gender, when it is necessary for the services we are offering, and you provide it to us. For example, we may process information about children from nonprofits, schools, and government agencies in order to fulfill a request for assistance for one of their students, clients, or a child of a client.

We will update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes to this
Privacy Policy, we will change the “Last Updated” date at the beginning of this Privacy Policy. All changes shall be effective from the date of publication unless otherwise provided.
