Giving Tuesday – Gifting to The Sharing Shelf

Childhood poverty is on the rise. Your donation is needed now more than ever.

Giving Tuesday is a global movement unleashing the power of impactful generosity during the holiday season of giving and gifting.

As you read this, we encourage you to give a gift to The Sharing Shelf and support our mission to address clothing insecurity and meet the basic material needs of Westchester children and teens.

Childhood poverty has more than doubled according to the U.S Census in just one year. At The Sharing Shelf, we see firsthand the impact of this increase. We have experienced an exponential growth in demand for our work. In 2021, we provided clothing to just over 3,200 children and teens. By the end of 2022, we distributed 4,365 Wardrobe Packs, a week’s worth of seasonally appropriate clothing.  As of November 24, we had received 5,116 requests for Wardrobe Packs just this year, an increase of 36% or more than 1,300 children

It is a challenge. We have at this moment more than 1,000 children and teens waiting for clothing – and the cold weather is only beginning.

We need your help to continue this deeply necessary work. Your clothing and volunteerism are one step in this effort. Your financial gift gives us the flexibility to respond and secure daily essentials like new underwear, new socks, and additional inventory to meet the rising need.

Please, join our Giving Tuesday movement and help us reduce clothing insecurity here in our community.
